MPH WITH CONCENTRATION

MPH is an inter disciplinary programme that prepares the candidates to become leading public health professionals who are capable of addressing the current global public health issues through multi disciplinary approaches and latest scientific knowledge.

The MPH programme has been designed to develop conceptual understanding of public health issues, impart research and analytical skills to engage in evidence based planning, implementation and management of public health initiatives at various levels. It aims at developing public health leaders with expertise in related areas of community health including disease characteristics, their prevention and control, management in crisis situations, forecast strategic disease prevention policies, quality assurance and regulatory affairs. The field challenges its professionals to confront complex health issues, such as improving access to health care, controlling infectious disease, and reducing environmental hazards, violence, substance abuse, and injury.

Electives:
This MPH program provides candidates to opt elective courses of their choice.

A concentration provides students to focus on a specific area of interest during the third semester. Candidates opting for concentration must complete a set of required courses as specified by the concentration area. Candidates who wish to specialise in area of interest, can select MPH with concentration in subjects mentioned below.

1. Biostatistics and Epidemiology
2. Public Health Informatics
3. Environmental and Occupational Health
4. Health Systems Management and Health financing

Candidates opting for MPH concentration can choose their area of specialization at the end of first semester. Those candidates opting for concentration shall undergo training in two subjects in area of specialization and select three optional subjects from Electives. Electives: This MPH program provides candidates to opt elective courses of their choice. Students are not restricted in their choice of selection of elective courses. However, after choosing the electives, if the students need a change of electives, it has to be done 3 weeks before the start of 3rd semester.

Eligibility
1.Candidates for admission to MPH course should have any bachelors degree from any university established under law considered equivalent thereto by RGUHS.
2.The candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks in respective Bachelors program
3.In case of SC/ST candidates the minimum marks shall be 45%.

International students are an important and integral part of the PSPH family providing valuable perspectives and contributions. To comply with the government laws, applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of India have to complete additional steps when applying to a program at PSPH.
